What is LipsLive?

LipsLive™ is a unique on-demand lipspeaking service allowing deaf and hard of hearing people who lipread, instead of using British Sign Language (BSL), to contact a service through a secure platform using a button on a business website if the company has signed up to this service.

How does LipsLive work?

  •  The deaf person will simply click a clear logo button displayed on the company’s website which will connect them, via video, to our lipspeaker.
  • Our lipspeaker will ask them what service they require and then facilitate the call.
  • The lipspeaker acts as the communication facilitator throughout the duration of the call.
  • Businesses can buy bundles of minutes upfront to allow for a smooth and affordable service.
  • The service is FREE for the lipreader to use.

Why offer LipsLive?

In the UK deaf British Sign Language (BSL) users can choose who they want to use for online video relay services and can contact companies or government departments themselves at a time to suit.

Deaf and hard of hearing people who lipread can use NGT (text relay) services but they are often busy, or they have to rely on family members or friends to make calls for them.

Relying on other people doesn’t promote independence and often a deaf person doesn’t want their friends or family to know about their private lives or finances, for example.

LipsLive™ powered by SignVideo, provides deaf and hard of hearing people independent access using their preferred method of communication at a time to suit.
