Sign Supported Lipspeaking
When lipspeaking is not enough
For some, lipspeaking alone is not sufficient.
A combination of lipspeaking, supported with signs from those lipspeakers who have sign language qualifications, is the preferred method of communication.
Some lipspeakers, if sufficiently qualified, can offer Sign Supported Lipspeaking.
Lipspeakers who have the additional skills of British Sign Language can be used in a variety of settings. The standard of this skill does vary so do consider the level of BSL you need. A more complex setting may need a lipspeaker who has BSL level 6, for example.
Look on the Association of Lipspeakers with Additional Sign (ALAS) website for more information, demonstration and a register of lipspeakers who can deliver this service.
